Stitch Fix #11 - February 2016

My birthday was a couple of days ago.  I ordered this fix strategically (planning for my off week of course) but also hoping for something to wear to my party this weekend.  Every year we throw a big shindig at the house, mainly to try to see some of my friends that I don't see as often since kids, life, etc. happened!

For those of you who have never heard of Stitch Fix or want to know more about it, here's a quick run down:

Stitch Fix is a service that will send you five articles of clothing (or purses,scarves, or jewelry) picked by a stylist at whatever interval you choose based on a style profile you fill out about yourself.  You pay a $20 styling fee for each box, but that money goes toward anything you keep.  So as long as at least one item works for you, there's nothing to lose.  And if you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount.

You don't have to sign up for a certain time period between fixes.  You could try it one time and never get another fix or get another one 2 years later!  There's no cost commitment until you schedule a fix.  When the box ships, that's when you are charged the $20 styling fee.

You can create a Pinterest board dedicated to your style and put the link in your style profile so that your stylist can see what items you like and why.  I love when I receive something I actually pinned or something very similar to a pin on my board!

I signed up for Stitch Fix last March, and this is my 11th box.  I had a fill-in stylist last month, but since I kept everything, I wanted her back if Ashley wasn't available.  I was kind of hoping I wouldn't love everything this month though because a monthly fix can be expensive when you keep five items so often!  Here is my note to my stylist:

I would like Ashley (or Anne, if Ashley is unavailable) to style me please! This fix will be my birthday fix! I would love to try some shoes (I think you have some now). I'd also love some colorful tops (like the blue Barret cold shoulder).

Here is what came in my 11th box:

(1) Pixley Stacey Scallop Hem Cut-Out Detail Skirt $64

 I had pinned this exact skirt, so I was excited to receive it!  I was also worried because a lot of reviews said it runs small.  I am able to get it on and zip it up, and I love the fact that it is a solid color.  I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it because I don't wear skirts too often.  It also only has the scalloped detail and cut-outs on the front of the skirt.

 Here is a close up of the scallop and cut-out detail.  I have been trying to practice more with my camera as I blog as well.  I'm starting to get more comfortable with manual mode.  I actually went back upstairs twice to redo some of the pictures.  But taking pictures in the living room rather than outside makes the shots with me in them not turn out as well. 

It was hard to find something to match this skirt.  Anne (my stylist) said I should tuck a shirt in to show off the red waistband, but I am lacking in shirts that match blue and red.  I found an off white tank and also tried it with item #4 from this fix.

(2) Skies are Blue Talar Split Neck Top $54

 I wasn't feeling this top from the moment I pulled it out of the box.  It's a denim color with polka dots, and I don't really do denim shirts.  I tried it on though, and it fits really well and is pretty comfy.  Probably not worth keeping though.

 This photo shows the contrast between the outside and inside color.  When the sleeves are rolled up, it has a neat effect with the light and dark denim.

I paired it with my new over-the-knee boots and my Just Black jeans from Fix #7 and my Liverpool pants from Fix #10.  After trying the shirt on again, I am reminded that it is SO soft and comfortable!  My husband said I look like I should be on Saved by the Bell though.  Maybe it comes in another color?

(3) 41Hawthorn McQue Solid Lace Sleeve Blouse $48

 I pinned this shirt too!!  Purple is my favorite!!  I think this might be my party top! 

 It is a tad bit short, but I love the airy sleeves.  Here is a close-up of the lace pattern.  So pretty!!

(4) RD Style Blair Cold Shoulder Pullover Sweater $88

 This sweater doesn't really meet my colorful top criterion, but I LOVE cold shoulder tops.  I received one that I had pinned back in Fix #7 in October, and I have pinned every top with this style that I can find.

I'm thinking this outfit might be good for date night tomorrow! 

(5) Kensie Rebekah Stretch Crepe Blazer $88

I had also pinned a blazer just like this one since I don't own any.  I like the polka dot interior that shows if you cuff the sleeves.  I like the navy color and feel that it would match a lot of things, but I'm not even sure how these things are supposed to fit!  The blazer looks too tight on me when buttoned, and I feel like the arms are a little too short.  Someone let me know if this is normal!  I will probably not keep it due to the funny fit and price.

Here it is over my blouse from Fix #5. I think I may have to keep trying for the perfect blazer.  I tried a t-shirt and dress with it as well, but it just didn't look right to me. 

I'll have to take the next few days to think it over and decide what to keep.  I get three days to decide what to keep and what to send back.  I fill out a checkout survey to give specific feedback on each item so that my next fix can be even better.  Then I put the rejects in a prepaid envelope and drop it off at the post office.

Vegas tried to kill me.  I've been fighting a bad cold for a week now, so I'm trying to make myself feel pretty today.  I got my hair cut and got my tenth fix, so things are looking up a little bit!  Here's my explanation of Stitch Fix, so if you've already heard this part before, feel free to scroll on down!

I have been receiving a fix monthly since March.   I still have my settings set to one fix per quarter, but now I look forward to working on my blog every month, so I've been requesting them early.  I like being able to schedule the day the package arrives, so that I can work it around my work schedule (and my husband's travel schedule!)  Now I have until Monday to check out and decide what to keep and what to send back in my prepaid bag that is sent in the box.  I also complete a check out survey to give specific feedback about why I kept or sent back each item so that my next fix can be even better!

This month, I requested my stylist Ashley.  In my note I asked for some pants, no dresses and light sweaters or layering pieces.  It turns out Ashley is not available this month, so Anne styled my fix for me.  Here's what came in the box:

(1) Market & Spruce Yuna Chevron Pointelle Knit Sweater $68

I cheated and saw that I was getting this sweater and was so excited because I had pinned it!  BUT, I am not a fan of the color at all.  I already have a couple of sweaters this color, so I am a little bummed.  The sweater is very soft and lightweight, but I felt like it needed a tank top under it because of the holes.  

This one may be a keeper just for the discount, depending on what I decide about the other items.

(2) Market & Spruce Margerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan $68

Another item that I had pinned!  My new stylist really paid attention to my Pinterest board!  This cardigan is described as navy, but I feel like it's almost a purple color.  I really like the stripe and dot pattern, but I am not sure how many items I own that I can match this one to.

I tried both a white t-shirt and my gray tank from Fix #4 in July.  I'm torn about this one.  I like the way it it gathered in the back.  The style card also paired it with a dress, but I didn't like the way that looked on me.

(3) Liverpool Rizzo Skinny Pant $98

I had requested these pants by name a few months back.  I'm so glad Anne was finally able to deliver!  I love these pants.  They are thick enough, have pockets in the back, and no buttons or zippers.  They feel great on and are just the right length.  Anne suggested I try them with my blouse from Fix #7.

I also tried them with:

(4) Papermoon Akron Tie Back Knit Top $54

I love this top as well.  It is soft, can be casual or dressy, and I like where the hemline falls.  The tie back is a cute little add-on that gives it some flair from the back.

Since it is grey and black, it will match everything.  It also goes well with my 5th item.

(5) Zad Martin Mini Layered Metal Cuff $28

This cuff is the first piece of jewelry I have received from Stitch Fix.  I'm pretty picky about jewelry, but I think they picked a good piece for me.  It is simple, will match anything, and I don't have many bracelets.  I think I was looking for one to go with some of my dresses last month.  Here's how it looks on:

So, even though I didn't have my regular stylist, I think Anne did a great job with this fix.  Do they just get me so well that I will end up keeping everything every time?  Do I want to keep the sweater and cardigan?  Give me some feedback in the comments below!

So I had to pick the coldest day of this month to take my pictures for the blog.  I haven't found a great spot indoors to take them yet, so I made my husband go out into the backyard for my photo shoot.  That wind was brutal!  Anyway, on to my fix.  Here's a brief explanation of Stitch Fix, just in case you don't know what I am talking about:

I have been getting my fixes from Ashley for a while now, and even though I don't always keep everything (which is good for my budget!), she seems to get me!

Here's what came in my 9th fix:

(1) Market & Spruce Colibri Plaid Printed Tab-Sleeve Shirt $48

I have been asking for plaid for a few months, so it was exciting to finally receive a plaid shirt!  The colors are the same as the scarf I debated over keeping last month.  It's a very thin shirt, and the sleeves can be rolled up and buttoned or left at a three quarter length.  I'm not sure how I feel about the collar, but I do like the longer length in the back.  I am wearing it with my Just Black skinny jeans from my October Fix.

I'm pretty sure I'm keeping this one!

(2) Brixon Ivy Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan $68

I did ask for another cardigan, but I'm not sure if this one is too casual.  It's very comfy and soft, and I love that it has pockets.  I have a similar cardigan I bought in Ireland, but it's a much scratchier wool.  My stylist suggested I pair this with the plaid shirt as well and the dresses she sent.  I need help with this one.  Do I keep it?

I probably should try it over scrubs as well to see if I would get some wear out of it at work!

(3) Skies are Blue Lyndale Sequin Detail Top $58

I had pinned some sequins on my Pinterest board hoping to get a fun top for New Years.  This shirt is a little more casual, which may be a good thing.  I would rather have something I will get some wear out of than a fancy top that I will only wear once.  What do you think?  

I do like the little peep hole in the back and the fact that the sleeves can be rolled up or left as long sleeves.  Is it dressy enough for New Years?  Will I get some wear out of it?  Help me decide!

(4) Brixon Ivy Irena Dress $88

This dress is similar to the one I kept in November's Fix, but I really like the cut of this one better!  It would be a great dress for Vegas I think.  It just seems so cute and flirty.  I paired it with heels and also with flats and a cardigan to check out how versatile it can be.  I love the neckline, but I do have to wear a strapless bra with it. 

My husband says he likes last month's dress better, but I kinda want to keep this one!  Am I crazy?  What do you think? 

(5) Kut From The Kloth Leland Dress $98

 This dress is the most confusing choice of all to me!  I like the color and the detail.  It has a sheer top which unfortunately also needs a strapless bra.  It seems awfully fragile to me.  I feel like I might rip the flowers when I pull on it or possibly pull the sheer part from the rest of the dress by accident.  Here are some pictures.  I also struggled with what shoes to wear.  I pulled out some funky heels I never wear and also tried them with boots and fleece leggings. 

So that's a wrap!  It may be better financially to keep everything in this fix if I am only thinking of sending back one piece because I save $90 by keeping it all.  I'm still not sure.  I have 2 more days to play around with the clothes before I make my decision.  Any feedback from my readers would be wonderful!
