Stitch Fix #8 - November 2015

Well I have had a very busy weekend and didn't leave myself as much time as usual for Stitch Fix.  Usually when I schedule a fix for a Saturday arrival, it comes a day early.  This time USPS told me I would have a Friday delivery, but then I ended up receiving it on Saturday.  Between taking my car in, date night, and the Falcons game, I have spent very little time at home this weekend.  Also, with the days being shorter, I don't have as much time or light for outdoor pictures.  So I feel like this fix is a little rushed, and my blog entry is not one of my best.  But for those of you who are still following along, here's my Stitch Fix story and a little breakdown of how the process works.

I started using Stitch Fix in March 2015.  Basically, it's a service that will send you five articles of clothing picked by a stylist at whatever interval you choose based on a style profile you fill out about yourself.  You pay a $20 styling fee for each box, but that money goes toward anything you keep.  So as long as at least one item works for you, there's nothing to lose.  And if you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount.

After my first fix, I created a Pinterest page dedicated to styles I like.  I share that link with my stylist so that she can see what I like.  I can also send a note to her about anything specific I would like in a certain box.

I still have my settings set to one fix per quarter, but now I look forward to working on my blog every month, so I've been requesting them early.  I like being able to schedule the day the package arrives, so that I can work it around my work schedule (and my husband's travel schedule!)

I was very wishy washy with my note this month too.  I kept changing it, so I think it ended up saying something along these lines:

Same stylist please! Would love to try some Kut from the Kloth corduroys! Would like a "holiday" dress to wear for the the Nutcracker in early Dec., maybe in red, green, gold, black, or silver? Also still hoping for a plaid shirt and maybe another sweater or cardigan.



Here are the 5 items I received in my 8th Stitch Fix:

(1) Look by M Alpine Plaid Wrap Scarf $44

I do like the colors of this scarf, but I am not sure about the blanket style.  I feel like there is way too much material.  I don't wear the scarves I have very often, and $44 is a little pricey for a scarf in my opinion.  My stylist Ashley told me to style it with a sweater and skinny jean that were also in my box, so I gave it a shot.

  
(2) Mavi Mylee Tulip Hem Skinny Jean in Burgundy $98

I do love the color of these pants.  I have wanted to try a colored pair of pants.  The front pockets are not really pockets though, and these just do not seem to fit me right.  They seem a little short when I'm not wearing them with boots, and they are a little tight around the waist.  Here's a close up of the tulip hem that makes them unique:

So unfortunately, I think these pants are being returned.

(3) Olive & Oak Alvin Striped Long Sleeve Sweater in Navy $68

 This is a super thin sweater, and it's comfortable, but there's nothing really exciting about it.  I wish it were more colorful, and I'm not digging the horizontal stripes.  I really don't think it is worth the price. 

 I do like that this sweater says exclusively designed for Stitch Fix.  A few of my items this fix said that, and that makes them even more unique!

(4) Pixley Bradshaw Dress in Burgundy $68

I really love this dress.  The lace at the back gives it a little flair, and it has little side cutouts.  My stylist knows that I love to be able to wear a regular bra with my items, so she pointed that detail out to me as well.  I also realized as I tried it on that it has pockets!   Such a cute dress!  I did have to wear a strapless under this dress because my bra was showing in the armpit area.  I just didn't like how the back looks on me, so I may have to send this beautiful dress back!

 Ashley told me to pair both dresses with a blazer and statement necklace, and I'd be ready for the Nutcracker.  Too bad I don't own either of those pieces.  But I tried my best with a cream cardigan  and necklace I already own.

(5) Collective Concepts Glenna Dress in Black $78

This dress is simple, but has some gold sparkle to it, and Ashley described it as "desk to dinner".  It has a zip up back.  I also tried it with the cardigan and necklace.

This dress is most likely my winner from this box.  I now have only a little over a day to decide.  I could send it all back since I won a gift card and didn't have to pay a styling fee for this box.  But help me decide!  I appreciate any comments or feedback you have for me!

Stitch Fix #7 - October 2015

It's my favorite time of the month!  Stitch Fix Day!  I am off of work today, so I have been pacing the house waiting for the mail to arrive!  It's here, and now I can start my blog!  I was so impatient, I didn't wait for my husband to get home, so I used a tripod for these pictures.  It's also sunset, so the lighting is not as good in my usual picture spot.

Here is the note I sent to my stylist:

Same stylist please! Would like to try a less chunky cardigan, and maybe a plaid shirt. Please send the Liverpool Reagan skinny pant in brown if available! I could also use another pair of skinny jeans for the fall.

In Ashley's note to me that came with my fix, she told me that she was unable to fulfill a plaid shirt or the specific pants I asked for, but she will keep a look out for next month.  I am hoping that by keeping the same stylist, she will get to know me and the things I like!

Here is what I got in my 7th box:

(1) Moda Luxe Brooklyn Crossbody Bag in Cobalt $48

For my first few fixes, I received a bag in each one.  Then I gave up and bought one at Target since I'm too picky about what I want in a purse.  It seems all bags are crossbody right now, but I feel like that style looks weird on me.  I do like the color and size, but I'm not sure I need a new bag right now.  The second picture is the part that folds over.  I think it's neat that it can unzip and hold things as well.  There is a zipper pocket and two open pouches for storage inside.  I found similar bags by the same brand at Target online for less money, so this bag is probably going back.

 I tried it with the tank I keep from my first fix (before I started blogging), since the blues match.

(2) Henry & Belle Abana Skinny Jean in Black $148

These jeans fit me well and are a good length, but I'm not sure I could ever spend that much on jeans!  Ashley says these can be dressed up for work or down for the weekend.  The other detail that bothers me is that the front pockets are not real!

(3) Just Black Jimmy Skinny Jean in Navy $88

 Ashley says these jeans are a good wardrobe staple.  They are a good length and fit well, so these are a maybe right now.  I'm trying to find some pants that are easier to shove into my boots and that I can wear with booties, so maybe these pants will fit the bill!

 I tried them on with my boots and booties, and I think they are pretty versatile. 

(4) Creative Commune Vandalia Shoulder Cutout Blouse $64

I had pinned this actual top on my Pinterest, so I know that Ashley pays attention!  I love funky sleeves and don't really have any, so I was excited when I saw this top!  Then I checked the tag and saw the dreaded words "DRY CLEAN".  So I think that may be a deal breaker for me.  The top is also a little shorter than I would like.  I'm afraid it will show my belly if I raise my arms over my head.  I so wanted this one to work for me!!

What do you think?  Am I crazy for thinking about sending this back?  Should I find a dry cleaner?


(5) RD Style Vivianna Open-Draped Knit Cardigan $68

So Ashley definitely delivered a less chunky cardigan!  It is SO soft.  It doesn't have pockets, but maybe I can request another cardigan next time.  It's labeled grey, so I think that it will go over lots of different shirts.  What do you think?

 Ashley recommended I try it with the Pixley tank from my 4th Fix.  I think I like it!

 I also tried it over a shirt with thicker sleeves to see if it would look too bulky.  I think it looks just fine!

Overall, this fix was kind of a let down.  I wanted the blouse to work for me, and the cardigan and navy jeans are just maybes at this point.  I'll have to take the next few days to think it over and decide what to keep.  I get three business days to decide what to keep and what to send back.  I fill out a checkout survey to give specific feedback on each item so that my next fix can be even better.  Then I put the rejects in a prepaid envelope and drop it off at the post office.

Stitch Fix #6 - September 2015

This post is being written from my screened-in back porch in the BEAUTIFUL 70 degree weather with a cool breeze blowing.  I also had my husband move the TV out here so that I can watch football while I blog.  The only thing missing is a pumpkin beer, but that will come later.  It's nice to receive, try on, and write about fall pieces without the temperature being in the 90s.

I still have my settings set to one fix per quarter, but now I look forward to working on my blog every month, so I've been requesting them early.  I like being able to schedule the day the package arrives, so that I can work it around my work schedule (and my husband's travel schedule!)  This month I requested the same stylist as last month (Ashley), since I ended up keeping everything.  I'm beginning to think that if you stick with the same stylist for a while, they will start to understand what you like.  This month I requested some red and black color combinations for the Falcons football games (we are season ticket holders).  I also requested a cardigan and a specific pair of pants. 

Here are the items I received in my sixth stitch fix (try saying that three times fast!):

(1) Rune Kiley Ankle Zip Legging $58

 
I am kind of torn about these pants.  First of all, I was hoping for PANTS, not leggings.  And the pants I had requested had pockets in the back to help hide my butt.  I do have a pair of black leggings already, but they do not fit as well as these ones do and do not have the cute zippers.  My stylist told me the skinny pants I requested were not in their inventory at this time.  So I tried the alternative on with my 41Hawthorne blouse from Fix #5

I also tried them with three of the other items in the this fix, so they will be on in the majority of the pictures. Here's a picture of the back and the zipper on the ankle:

I don't know what to do about this one. Do I keep them or return them?  I need some help deciding!

(2) Market & Spruce Pacci Cowl Neck Sweater $78

 I LOVE cowl neck sweaters, and this one is not itchy which is a definite requirement for me.  I kind of would have liked a different color, but the light grey will go with a lot of other colors and patterns.  The style card had it paired with jeans and also a skirt, so I tried it with those two options and with the leggings (item #1).

 It seems very versatile, so I think this sweater is a keeper. 

(3)  Fun2Fun Covelin Cut Out Back Blouse $44

 I am definitely keeping this blouse, since I already wore it for date night last night!  I love the fun back, and even though I was worried about my bra showing, there were no problems with the straps or the back.  Here are my pictures from last night:

It also has cute little see through areas on the sides.  I also paired it with the leggings from this fix and a skirt to see how it looked.

(4) THML Mackey Open Cardigan $88

I requested to try a cardigan this fix, but I was expecting a thinner one that could go over my work clothes, etc., and maybe help me be a little more stylish at the same time.  This sweater is comfy, and it's a neutral color, so it will go with a lot of things, but I am just not sure about this one.  I tried it with over a couple of the pieces from this fix.  It was also shown on the style card with shorts and a striped tee, so I tried that combination as well. 

 I feel like it may be a little too big for me.  I can barley reach the pockets.  My husband told me it looks more like a bathrobe or something.  I actually kind of like it with the shorts.  What are your thoughts?  Should I send it back and try for a different cardigan next time?  For the price on this one, I feel like I maybe need a better fit. 

(5) Collective Concepts Airlia Dress $88

I first tried this dress on with my three year old daughter standing nearby.  I quickly listed to her the reasons I didn't like this dress.

1. It did not fit me well and was a little tight.

2. The pattern and style are not me at all.  It reminds me of an old lady dress, especially with the waist and tie.

3.  It's dry clean only.  This girl does not do dry cleaning!

4.  It's $88!  There's no way I'm keeping this dress.  I would be sad even if I had to keep it to save my 25%

But I had my husband take pics anyway.  Here they are:

I definitely will not be keeping all five items this time.  So help me decide!

Should I keep the leggings?  One can never have too many pairs of black leggings right?

Should I keep the cardigan?  Or is it way too big to even think about?  Let me know in the comments below!
